Building Shipping Indicators with GA-CCRi’s Optix Platform
We are always excited to see customers using our technology to advance the common good. The Big Data UN Global Working Group is leveraging GA-CCRi’s Optix platform to deploy a multidomain analytics platform with the goal of generating national statistics. The United Kingdom’s Data Science Campus has been an early adopter and has already built some compelling shipping indicators that leverage AIS data from one of our other partners, Spire.
Shipping indicators have many uses, one of which is measuring economic trends. In their article Faster indicators of UK economic activity: more timely and relevant shipping indicators, the UK Data Science team describes how they create several interesting port traffic indicators and explores their viability for economic analysis. The best part: UK Data Science Campus plans to publish these indicators at regular intervals to be leveraged by all for further research.
